Members of the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy (UMSOP) community were recognized for their leadership, service, and academic achievement at the Maryland Pharmacists Association (MPhA) 2025 Annual Convention, held June 6–8 in Ocean City, Md. The event brought together pharmacists, educators, students, and health care leaders from across the state to celebrate contributions to the profession and promote excellence in pharmacy practice.

Honorary President of MPhA – Natalie D. Eddington

Natalie D. Eddington, PhD, FAAPS, FCP, dean emeritus of UMSOP, received the distinguished title of Honorary President of MPhA, an honor reserved for individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the field of pharmacy in Maryland. A long-standing leader in academic pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences, Eddington served as dean of the School from 2007 to 2023. Her career has been defined by dedication to advancing pharmacy education, research, and practice.

“Being named honorary president of the Maryland Pharmacists Association is a deeply meaningful recognition,” said Eddington. “Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside dedicated pharmacists, educators, and advocates who have helped shape the profession across our state. The University of Maryland School of Pharmacy and MPhA have shared a long-standing and deeply rooted partnership—growing together through generations of collaboration to advance pharmacy education, practice, and public health in Maryland. I am proud to be part of this legacy and grateful for the opportunity to have contributed to a profession that has given me so much.”

Election to Board of Trustees – Katy Pincus

Also honored at the convention was Katy Pincus, PharmD, BCPS, associate professor of practice, sciences, and health outcomes research, who was elected to serve on the MPhA Board of Trustees. Pincus, who practices in family medicine with an emphasis on chronic diseases management, has been actively engaged in the pharmacy community throughout her career, with particular emphasis on public health, patient-centered care, and advancing pharmacy practice through education and policy.

“I’m honored to join the Board of Trustees for the Maryland Pharmacists Association and to serve alongside colleagues who are passionate about advancing our profession,” said Pincus. “Throughout my career, I have been committed to improving public health and patient-centered care through education, advocacy, and practice. I look forward to contributing to MPhA’s efforts to support pharmacists and enhance the role we play in Maryland’s health care landscape.”

Student Scholarship – Megan Chang

UMSOP’s tradition of student excellence was also on display as Megan Chang, a rising second-year student pharmacist, received an MPhA student scholarship in recognition of her academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to the profession.
