Students, Faculty, and Alumni Receive Statewide Excellence in Pharmacy Awards

Six student pharmacists, three faculty, and three alumni from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy (UMSOP) received Maryland Pharmacist Association (MPhA) Excellence in Pharmacy Awards at the 140th MPhA Annual Convention in Cambridge, Md., June 3-5.

Outstanding Student Pharmacists Achievement Award: Lu Chen

MPhA Student Scholarship Award: Delaney McGuirt and Eileen Zheng

MPhA Foundation Student Scholarship Award: Sung Jin (Julie) Jeong, Sean Kim, and Belinda Tamrakar

Mentor Award: Cynthia Boyle, PharmD, FAPhA, FNAP, FASCP, professor emerita of pharmacy practice and science

Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award (Sponsored by Pharmacists Mutual): Alumnus Lauren Haggerty, PharmD ‘16, BCACP

Excellence in Innovation Award (Sponsored by the MPhA Foundation and Upsher Smith): Emily Heil, PharmD, MS, BCIDP, associate professor of pharmacy practice and science

Pharmacist Advocate Award: Megan Ehret, PharmD, MS, BCPP, professor of pharmacy practice and science

Seidman Distinguished Achievement Award: Alumnus Dixie Leikach, RPh, MBA, BSP ’92, FACA

“School of Pharmacy faculty, staff, students, and alumni have for decades been heavily involved with the Maryland Pharmacists Association and its mission to strengthen the profession of pharmacy, advocate for all Maryland pharmacists, and promote excellence in pharmacy practice,” says Natalie D. Eddington, PhD, FAAPS, FCP, dean and professor. “This year’s impressive showing of nine faculty and students, as well as three of our alumni, being recognized for their contributions to MPhA and the state demonstrates their expertise, influence, and impact and deep commitment to MPhA, pharmacy education and the profession as a whole. Congratulations to them all!”
