Jill Morgan, PharmD, BCPS, BCPPS, FNAP, has been named one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women by The Daily Record.

Founded in 1996, Maryland’s Top 100 Women recognizes outstanding women leaders from across the state for their professional accomplishments, community involvement, and commitment to mentoring.

“For over 30 years, The Daily Record has made it its mission to shine a spotlight on the women who make Maryland extraordinary — and this year’s honorees are nothing short of remarkable,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, managing director of BridgeTower Media/The Daily Record, in a statement announcing the honorees. “These are leaders who don’t just climb to the top; they reach back and lift others with them. They mentor, inspire, and pave the way for the next generation to dream bigger and reach further.”

Morgan, who is a professor and chair of the Department of Practice, Sciences, and Health Outcomes Research (P-SHOR) at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy (UMSOP), was honored during an awards celebration May 4 at Towson University.

“Dr. Morgan exemplifies excellence in pharmacy education through her leadership, innovation, mentorship, and unwavering dedication to improving patient care,” said Sarah L.J. Michel, PhD, dean and professor of pharmaceutical sciences at UMSOP. “Throughout her career, she has helped advance pediatric pharmacy practice while mentoring countless students and trainees. Her impact extends far beyond our School through the programs she has developed, and the patients and communities who have benefited from her work. We are proud to see her recognized as one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women.”

Morgan has served as chair of P-SHOR since 2015 and has been a faculty member at the School for over 20 years. Under her leadership, P-SHOR continues to advance research, innovation, collaboration, advocacy, and excellence in pharmacy education to improve health care outcomes. Faculty and staff within the department conduct clinical, translational, and population outcomes research while helping pioneer innovative roles for pharmacists across a wide range of health care settings throughout Maryland.

In addition to her leadership at the School, Morgan serves as a clinical pediatric specialist at the University of Maryland Medical Center and has dedicated much of her career to advancing pediatric pharmacy practice, mentoring students and residents, and supporting professional development initiatives.

Among her many accomplishments, Morgan co-developed the “Ew Meds List,” the first evidence-based resource designed to identify poor-tasting oral liquid medications for children and provide practical taste-masking strategies to improve adherence and patient outcomes. She also created UMSOP’s Job Ready Program in 2012, an initiative that helps pharmacy students prepare for employment through CV reviews, interview coaching, career workshops, and employer engagement opportunities.

“One of the most rewarding parts of my career has been helping students and trainees grow into confident pharmacists, leaders, and mentors themselves,” said Morgan. “I am grateful to be able to spend my career in a profession centered on caring for patients, supporting one another, and continually working to improve the way we deliver care.”

A dedicated mentor, Morgan advises approximately 30 pharmacy students annually and is deeply committed to supporting students’ academic, professional, and personal growth. Her mentoring philosophy emphasizes leadership, accountability, professional engagement, and work-life balance.

Throughout her career, Morgan has received numerous honors recognizing her contributions to pharmacy education, mentoring, leadership, and patient care. Recent awards include the National Academies of Practice Pharmacy Academy Inaugural Leadership Achievement Award, UMSOP’s Impact – LEADer in Inclusive Excellence Award, and its Teacher of the Year award. She has also received the Maryland Society of Health-System Pharmacists’ Purdum Award, a peer-selected honor recognizing her longstanding contributions to pharmacy practice and leadership across Maryland.

Maryland’s Top 100 Women honorees are selected by a panel of past recipients and business leaders.
