In celebration of American Pharmacists Month, Phi Lambda Sigma (PLS) and APhA-ASP, hosted the School’s first ever Leadership Fair on October 16 to honor leaders among the profession of pharmacy. In attendance were honored guests, Nancy Alvarez, Bruce Gordon, Renee Hilliard, Dixie Leikach, Gina-McKnight-Smith, and Howard Schiff.
The students also honored Dean David A. Knapp, PhD, for his leadership to fulfill Maryland’s need for pharmacist by enlarging the program at the Baltimore campus with the Pharmacy Hall Addition. John Watts, president of the Student Government Association noted, “Dean Knapp once described the School of Pharmacy as a ship among a fleet at UMB. Today, we celebrate our Captain as he heads into the future voyages of the school.” A bench was dedicated in the Leavitt garden outside of Pharmacy Hall in the Dean’s honor.
The fair was generously sponsored by Wal-Mart.
