About sixty high school and college students and even a few “career-switchers” visited the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy on June 23 for an Open House designed to answer questions and increase their interest in applying to the nation’s 9th ranked school of pharmacy.
Jill Morgan, PharmD, associate dean for student affairs, described her own career as a pediatric pharmacist and discussed the benefits and rewards of working in pharmacy. “There are so many options to choose from in terms of a career when you have a doctor of pharmacy degree,” she told the group. “As pharmacists, you have the ability to make a direct impact on the health of the patients you will be seeing. And this career offers so much flexibility that it is really ideal if you are interested in health care.”
In addition to an overview of the admissions process, the prospective students heard from a panel of faculty and alumni who each described their pharmacy careers and a panel of students who discussed the School from their unique perspective.
